As we venture around the vicinity of Low Yat, we landed at a two storey Outback Steakhouse that serves an array of Western delicacies. This place was filled with foreign tourists having their meals here and easy to spot with the huge Outback neon sign.
Combination Appetizer (RM 29.95)
Instead of going through all the fuss choosing our appetizers, we settled for their combination appetizer that yield portions of their Kookaburra Wings, Aussie Cheese Fries, and crispy fried mushrooms. Our verdict? The wings were great in their secret spices coating served with blue cheese, their Aussie fries were average, and their lightly breaded fried mushrooms were just ok.
Outback Nachos (RM 23.95)
No one would be able to resist a plate of crispy nachos especially with the Outback's twist that dresses the tortilla chips with melted cheese, tomatoes, olives, sour cream, lean beef (separated for this meal on request), and jalapenos that might makes the chips too spicy for some.
BBQ Chicken (RM 27.95)
This half BBQ chicken was my least favourite dish of the night. This smoked & roasted chicken was dry on the inside as it was hard to consume and chew. Luckily, the mashed potatoes served was great as it was just mashed just right.
Outback Special (RM 47.95)
Next, their signature Outback Special that was asked to be served well done. As we sliced their steak, I seen some parts they were not seared to well done as the heat was not evenly distributed throughout the sirloin meat. This dish was nothing to shout about and is served with a side serving of vegetables (carrots were hard to chew though), and mashed potatoes.
Toowoomba Pasta (RM 29.95)
A random Foursquare post recommended their Toowoomba pasta which incorporates grilled shrimps mushrooms, and Parmesan on their fettuccine and enveloped in a heavy coating of cream, cream, and more cream. The first few bites were great as it has a creamy flavour to it, but as it goes on, we find their pasta a little empowering with sweetness and failed to plead us to eat further.
A big thanks to Ken, Elias, and Erica for the birthday surprise which I could not have expected ! Overall, food was mediocre and above average to us. There are some better places that you can explore around this area that might serve some great dishes.
