Kinnaree Thai Restaurant @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya

Thai food always seems to amaze me in terms of its vast & colourful ingredients used to conjure up great Thai delicacies. Whether it's some spicy Som Than, or crispy Sam Rod, spiciness is a essential essence in Thai gourmet. If you do want to experience authentic Thai food, visit Kinnaree Thai Restaurant in Jaya One as one visit there surprises me with their strong flavours and well decorated place. Compared to other Thai restaurants I've been locally, Kinnaree tops my must-go-Thai-food list! Note: Prices are based on portion size.

This place is beautifully decorated that lets you experience a Thai ambiance with its organized settings and impressive decorations. Thanks to my university's department, we had a great lunch after a long hard work in a recent event.

Rice!
Spicy Pamelo Salad (RM 18)
To start our Thai gourmet course, we were served a dish of Yam Som O (Spicy Pamelo Salad). Although pamelo and chili flakes might be peculiar to me, this dish tasted something new with its mixture of minced chicken, prawns, & coconut flakes. It has a mixed taste of juicy sweet and spicy flavours that was a great start for us.

Spring Rolls (RM 3.30 per pc)
Next on our appetizer list, a plate of deep fried Po Pia Thod that has a crispness to its skin, enveloping vegetable fillings. A simple dish for us that goes great with its saccharine dipping sauce.

Deep Fried Boneless Fish w. Sweet & Spicy Tamarind Sauce (RM 46.00-68.00)
This deep fried boneless fish you are looking at may seem innocent to you, but WOW! when it comes to it spiciness level, a full blown 5 star that makes everyone on our table feeling the heat, we do enjoy it though :). The crispy boneless fish that makes it easier to eat with, was drenched with their tamarind sauce twisted with sweet and super spicy elements! Don't these "spicy red" look amazing?

Green Curry Chicken ( RM 26/RM 39)
Honestly, I always thought green curry was gonna be a weird flavour for me. Instead, their green curry chicken or Gaeng Keaw Wan Kai permeates a delicious thick taste. This grilled chicken is topped with green curry, chilis, and a touch of coconut milk. It was not spicy at all for us and goes well with our rice.

Prawn w. Mango & Herbs (RM 40.00)
Using steamed river prawns (big heads), they were not much of prawn meat eaten but with their  impressive presentation, the Plar Gung was weighted with fresh sliced mangoes mixed spicy chili paste & herbs. This gives a a nice sour & spicy essence to the juicy prawns.

Prawn w. Mango & Herbs (RM 40.00)

Chicken Cashew Nut (RM 26/ RM 38)
Using cashew nuts & dry chili flakes, this Kai Phad Med Mamuang was ordinary in terms of taste to me. I find the sauce a bit heavy in its flavouring. It wasn't that special to me.

Steamed Fish with Lime (RM 48.00)
I guess most of the people on my table loved every bit of this classic dish. Using a boneless seabass fillet, this wrapped fillet was simply fresh in its meat. Then, a spicy lime sauce was a great complimentary that adds a bit of sourness to open up our taste-buds even more!

Beef Basil (RM 30/ RM42)
Using basil leaves, chilis, and fresh peppercorns, this beef basil dish was delightful and simple in it taste and sauce. It was more of a salty & sweet flavour that envelops the stir fry tenderloin beef. The sauce goes well with my rice though :).

Kailan w. Garlic & Oyster Sauce (RM 16/ RM24)
A simple fresh kailan vegetables cooked with oyster sauce and garlic. Some fiber to accompanied all these spicy delicacy.
Tom Yum Seafood Soup (Rm 14.00 per pax/ RM 46 per pot)
A must order in Kinnaree, dont you just love Tom Yum soup? With their generous amount of seafood delights (prawns, squid, fish fillet), this soup was heavenly with its sour & spicy combo, topped with coconut milk and herbs. Although, it was not very spicy to us, it permeates a sour, thick broth that is sure to make you beg for more.

Tub Tim Krub (RM 8.00)
After consuming loads of calories (and i mean alot!!) desserts were full of sweetness overload to compliment your increasing blood pressure XD(just kidding!). This pink coated water chestnut & sliced jackfruits were accompanied with coconut milk and shaved ice that tasted sweet and creamy but may proved too sweet for some.

Lemongrass Tea
Try a simple refreshing lemongrass tea that is simply invigorating.

Kinnaree Thai Restaurant
Overall, we had a great time in Kinnaree with its excellent service and great Thai gourmet. This place earns a top spot on our Thai good food list. However, some might find the prices here overwhelming especially for budget conscious eaters. But, with such good food, I wouldn't mind paying more. I do look for forward for my next visit here.
