Another dim sum morning hangouts, Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong in the busy traffic of PJ Old Town, was fully packed on a weekend morning. Their dim sum delicacies here are of higher end preparation as they exclusively use premium ingredients such as prawns and scallops in their dim sum. I do applaud them for going away from the typical dim sum dishes as some of the dishes here were made with a twist. However, I was not so impressed with the tasting section.
Salted Shrimps Scallops
Fried Salad Shrimp
Prawn Sesame Roll
I am not sure about this dish name but it was more like a shrimp based popiah roll & topped off with sesame seed. I guess my mind was not fully awaken yet, as all of this shrimp based dim sums starting to taste alike.
Deep Fried Turnip Cake
Scallop Shrimp Dumpling & Seaweed Roll
Their seaweed roll was a steamed pork meat wrapper around with a thick layer of seaweed. Nothing was special. Their scallp shrimp dumplings was rather small and the size of the scallop given on top the shrimp dumpling was rather small compared to the ones in KK.
Ahh...their golden bun was filled with oozzing custard mix with salted yellow egg. I am a fanatic to this buns since I tried it in Hong Kong and was loving it since then! However, I dont quite understand why does this buns always cost a lot more than other dim sum dishes?
BBQ Pork Bun
Jin Xuan Hong Kong
Overall, the place was average to me, but prices here were abit more expensive than other dim sum restaurants I reviewed due to the fact they use much more expensive ingredients. If you want cheap dim sum, this id definitely not the place for you.
